Where's Chuck 4
by Taylor

Michelle and I stood frozen. Michelle looked as if she was going to cry. Her face was crumpled and her eyes were watering. "It's your fault! All your fault!" She screamed. The tears broke free.

"What?" I asked. "But it was my idea to come and save Chuck in the first place!" I said.

"Yeah, and if you hadn't come up with that stupid dare, we wouldn't have to be here! That creature thing might eat us! For all I care, you can get eaten! I'm going home, and I don't want to see you EVER again!" She screamed. Her voice cracked and whimpered.

"Michelle I-" I began. But she ran off and left me alone. "Michelle please come back!" I cried out. But she kept running. Her crying got fainter and fainter and eventually, was gone. I was alone, my heart broken. I was in danger, my sister hated my guts, and I had no one to turn to.

The thought kept bouncing around my mind, which hurt even more. Suddenly, there was a terrified scream deeper into the woods. "Michelle!" I gasped. I sprinted into the woods. That was IT. That monster had gotten Chuck, Michelle and I might be next. That monster has to pay. To DIE! I was GOING to make sure that happened. I patted my front right pocket and made sure my pocketknife was in there.

Suddenly, I found myself at a split path. 'Right or Left' my mind asked. "MICHELLE!" I yelled. Michelle screamed again, to my right. I ran to my right. After a few miles, I found myself at another split path. Michelle screeched again, to my left and I ran that way. But I tripped over something. I gasped out in pain, and the wind was knocked out of me. I checked my leg with the flashlight I had in my other pocket. My knee was purple and black and swollen. My shin and some of my ankle were bleeding. I groaned but picked myself up.

"That's it! That demon is going down!" I snarled.

I sprinted down the path with the faint moonlight glowing down on me, lighting my way. Suddenly, a gleam caught my eye. Michelle's necklace with that huge diamond heart. I stared at my reflection. My face had splatters of dirt and blood. My eyes were red from when I had been crying. I was filled with determination now. I ran down the path full speed ahead. About 5 miles up the path, I tripped over something soft. "Ouch!" I complained. I walked over to what I'd tripped over.

Michelle. She was lying in the path. She had blood on her clothes. Her eyes were closed and she wasn't breathing. "Michelle..." I tried, but I felt as though the wind had been knocked out of me.

"Oh Michelle!" I cried. Tears poured down my face. "No! No, no, no, no, no! This can't be happening!" I yelled.

A menacing laugh suddenly pierced the air. A black smoke curled around Michelle and I. "NO!" I yelled.

"Ha! Foolish boy!" It growled. I reached to my pocket and it hissed. It took the form of a person. Of a girl. She had red eyes and pale white skin, and not to mention, she was transparent. Matted black hair.

"You took Chuck. And now, you've taken my sister! You will PAY!" I yelled. I pounced at her with my knife. She disappeared and reappeared to my right. "You!" I growled. She laughed. I pounced and missed again. I yelled in anger. I grabbed the knife. I leaped into the air and, with my luck, I stabbed the creature. The smoke suddenly ripped apart and fell to the ground. The girl suddenly fell.

She wasn't transparent like she had been. In fact, now she looked almost sweet. Her hair wasn't matted and her skin looked normal. She wore an old fashioned gown. The moonlight shined down on her. I ran over to her. "Are you alright?" I asked, amazed. She slowly opened her eyes. They were a deep blue. And her eyes were watering. She whispered something.

"What?" I asked.

"I'm free." She said. Her voice was so sweet now. Almost like the sweetest song ever heard. "The Darkness had taken me. And now I'm free. I once was lost in these woods. And thanks to you, I'm free again!" She said. I helped her up. Her smile was tearful and happy. Her voice was now a whisper. "I'm free." Suddenly, the pale moonlight shined all around her. She waved and whispered, "I'm free."

And suddenly, she was just gone. But there, lying on the ground, was a silver locket I hadn't seen her wearing. In the most precious silver diamond, was a shape that could not be mistaken as the crescent moon.

It glowed and two spirits floated out. I saw Michelle and Chuck. They looked silvery. And they became real just like that. I ran to Michelle. I wrapped my arms around her and Chuck. "Guys!" I sobbed. They smiled and hugged me back.

"Everything is okay," Michelle assured me. "Let's go home." She added.

And as we broke up the hug, in the moon, I could've sworn I saw that girl. She winked at me and was gone.

And that is the end of my tale.
