The Shepherd's Daughter
Near our school there are lots of fields & 241 years ago to this year, a shepherd used to live in a barn in one of the fields.
He had a daughter, we don't know what she's called, but we know her initials are R.G. Her mother had died in child birth. Her father felt sorry for her so he got her an old English Sheepdog, which is a very fluffy dog!
Every day she would help her father round up the sheep and cows with her dog.
One winter the shepherd got sick and sadly passed away. R.G had a big decision, she could stay and look after all the animals or go. There was no other human for miles around, but she stayed.
For up to 7 months she had rounded up the sheep and cows all by herself and her dog, of course.
Because she was so lonely, every night she would hang her hand over the side of her bed and her dog would lick and nuzzle her hand, which made her giggle.
One morning she woke up and her dog wasn't there, she knew something was wrong, she got up and followed a trail of blood to her bathroom.
There she saw her poor dog hanging from the ceiling, its long tongue flopping out.
There on the wall it said in blood, "Humans Can Lick Too!"
