Midnight at the Break of Dawn
by Megan G.

Once there was a girl named Riynaya (why-nay-a). She lived next door to a guy named Ristana (rust-stand-a) who everyone called Ray.

One day Riya went to Ray’s house. When she got in, she heard the fan on, but Ray was not in the room. Riya finally looked in the dining room. It was empty except for Ray in the corner.

“Ray what's wrong?” she said.

“I've been robbed!“

Riya went back to Ray's house the next day. The fan was still on. She went into the room to ask Ray if he was okay. When she turned the corner, she saw Ray hanging with a rope around his neck from the fan.

At Ray's funeral, Riya was told, "Ray had been through so much after he was robbed and went a little mad. He had hung himself after you left his house Tuesday night".

After the funeral, Riya had gone home and found roses, chocolates and a note on her vanity.

The note said:

Dear Riya, I know we planned to go to the movies Friday night, but since I can't make it, I got you this card.

Love Ray-ray

(p.s. I loved what you put on my grave.)

Riya realized Ray had gotten her these things after his death and during the funeral.

Riya looked up at the sky at midnight at the break of dawn and smiled she saw a face smile back at her.
